NEESR-SG: Self-Centering Damage-Free Seismic-Resistant Steel Frame Systems SC-MRF High-Level DBE Hybrid Simulation

The earthquake input for this simulation will produce the high-level design basis earthquake (DBE) response. The high-level DBE response is a median-plus-one-standard-deviation-level DBE response. The input ground motion is the LOS000 record from the 1994 Northridge event, scaled by 1.18. Yielding is expected in the columns at the base and no other damage is expected. The roof drift will be approximately 3.0% radians. The structure is expected to self-center (without significant residual drift) during this simulation.

The 4-story, 2-bay self-centering moment-resisting frame (SC-MRF) test structure has been subjected to numerous previous laboratory experiments, including several median-level frequently occurring earthquake (FOE) hybrid simulations, two low-level DBE hybrid simulations, and one median-level DBE hybrid simulation. From these previous laboratory experiments, the test structure has no notable damage or residual drift.
